The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is a national unit of the Finnish Police operating across the Finland and dealing with a wide range of duties. The objectives of the NBI include detection, prevention and investigation of serious, organised and professional crimes as well as developing new methods for criminal investigation and criminal intelligence.
The Cybercrime Centre of the NBI operates on a national level and also as an international partner. The Digital Forensics Development Unit of the Cybercrime Centre, contributing to the COW-project, has a special objective to research and develop new tools and methods in the field of digital forensics.
The NBI contributes to COW-project especially by testing and validating the developed tools as well as providing feedback for the developers. Our expertise as a LEA-contributor will help the COW-project by introducing the LEA end-user point of view i.e. real-life limitations, defining needs and requirements as well as providing close relationships with other LEAs in Finland and in Europe.
